This is not the current diary. It’s an example of some events we have had. Members receive a current diary by email twice a month.

Thu 6:30 PM Cinema, Crawley National Theatre live performance – at the Cinema. Frankenstein (with Benedict Cumberbatch). Tickets  Adults £10, Seniors £8. A Danny Boyle production. Please purchase own tickets.   Contact Sandie for a possible meal before hand

Golden Galleon, Exceat Bridge, Cuckmere  Walk to Cuckmere haven – and back to The Golden Galleon for lunch and afterwards walk to Seaford Head with fabulous views of Seven Sisters. Well behaved dogs welcome. Neither of the walks are strenuous. Meet at the Golden Galleon car park
Fri 5:30 PM Cuckfield Golf Centre, Another opportunity to learn golf – and for those who already play to have a game.  5.30 p.m. Golfers: Arrival and tee off to play 9 holes. Finishing at approx. 7.45 p.m.  6.30 p.m. Beginners: Arrival and lesson for half hour, followed by half hour on the driving range. 8.00 p.m. All sit down for dinner.  Cost: £8.50 Players/£10.00 Beginners + £12.50 for food (2 courses).
Sat 6:15 PM East Beach Cafe, Littlehampton Bangers, Mash & a Movie – Dinner served 6.30-7.00pm.  Classic Film: ‘High Society’, 7.30. Cost  £12.50. £5 deposit
Sun 7:00 PM Dolphin Leisure Centre, Haywards Heath Badminton doubles – Anyone interested in playing a “gentle” game (top notch players need not apply!) please email  .Upto 8 people required.  First come first served!!
Fri Pelham Arms, Lewes, BN7 1XL Lewes Pub visit – Meeting at the Pelham Arms and then visit 2 other pubs. Please ring for times.

Worthing Pier A day’s cruise on the ‘Waverley’ – the world’s last sea-going paddle steamer. To Yarmouth (I.o.W.), Swanage or Lulworth Cove. Return by 21.30 by coach from Portsmouth on return.  N.B. Sailing dependent on weather conditions.
Wed 6:00 PM Capitol Theatre, Horsham See a film – and then have dinner in a local restaurant.
Tue Peacehaven Golf Course Join Madeline for a round of golf – £10 for 9 holes or have a 1 hour group lesson with our Pro James for £5 and then we can all relax in the club bar and restaurant for lunch.
Fri 8:00 PM Bankers, Hove Fish & Chips – Numbers are limited
Fri 8:00 PM Goring Get-together for drinks at a local hostelry  – (Food available, but nothing being organised).
Sat 7:30 PM Pinocchios, New Rd, Brighton Italian Meal at Pinocchios – Set price meals from £8, plus drinks. No limit on numbers
Sun 10:30 AM Roffey Park Today we are in the area between Crawley and Horsham – for a moderately hilly walk.  Park in the slip-road off the A.264, about one mile west of Faygate.
Sun 7:00 PM Hove Philosophy in Pubs  – Whatever can go wrong will go wrong.  Is it true, or is it merely feeble pessimism?
Sun 1:30 PM Worthing Walk along the Seafront – to Sea Lane Café and back for tea and cakes.
Fri Anne of Cleves House, Southover High Street, Lewes From the Sussex Ox to the Fordson tractor” – Oxen were still in use at Chyngton and Exceat Farms in Seaford until the mid-1920’s and were reckoned to have been in use on the Sussex Downs for over 1000 years before. The talk includes photographs of them at work in Seaford, Bishopstone, East Dean and Lewes, together with some more unusual non-agricultural work that they carried. Following the demise of the oxen in Sussex, the talk looks at the evolution of farming to horses and steam power, the rioting when the threshing machines were introduced and the arrival of the first tractors. Sat 10:30 AM Newchapel Surrey A mostly flattish walk in Surrey –  This is sign-posted off the A.22 about 2 miles north of the Felbridge traffic lights  (or, if you are coming the other way, about 500 yards south of the Mormon Temple).

Sun 10:30 AM Bolney a walk from Bolney (A.23 / A.272)  –  but this one will be very different: moderately hilly and mainly through farmland.   Meet outside the Motorcycle Workshop in the Old London Road.

Fri 7:00 PM Mid Sussex Golf Club, Spatham Lane, Ditchling The Masked Ball – A major group event for us to get out the posh frocks, with live music.  6 piece band, dancing and delicious summer buffet  £29.50.    The Book By Date is the day we have to give them numbers.
Sun 2:45 PM Assembly Hall Worthing The Soul Of Spain – Alassio concert ochestra at the assembly hall. Meet at 2.15PM in foyer. Money  £15.50
Mon 6:30 PM Kingstanding, Ashdown Forest, TN22 3JB  “Aspidistra” A Secret transmitter –  housed in an underground Bunker.  Then Cold War HQ. Site now used by the Sussex Police for training.  12 People ONLY for this visit so book early if you are interested..
Wed 7:45 PM Theatre Royal, Brighton The Haunting– cost tba. More info or book at Brighton Club night on Monday.
Fri 8:00 PM Uckfield Ceilidh with the Sussex Pistols –   with instruction from caller Vic Smith. One of the most popular barn dance bands in the south of England. Lively and enthusiastic, with a wealth of experience,  Bar.  £10 (Concessions £8) www.uckfieldfestival.co.uk
